Listen and read-along with this delightful poem by, Jo Carol Hebert.
If the cow is in the meadow
and the Farmer in the Dell –
Is the Otter in the water?
Well, you have to look to tell
If Polly puts the kettle on,
we all can have some tea –
Is the Otter in the water?
Well, you have to look to see.
If Eeensy Weensy spiders
go up the water spout –
Is the Otter in the water?
Well, look and you’ll find out
If four and twenty blackbirds
were baked in a pie –
Is the Otter in the water?
Well, you’ll see him if you try.
If Simple Simon met a pieman
going to the fair –
Is the Otter in the water?
If you search, you’ll find him there.
If Mary had a little lamb
that followed her to school –
Is the Otter in the water?
Yes, he’s in a swimming pool.
If Mary was contrary
with cockleshells in rows –
Is the Otter in the water?
Well, look and you will know.
It can rain and pour
and an old man can snore,
and Sally sells seashells
by the seashore –
Then, don’t go near the water
without looking for an Otter!
