Halloween is almost here. This time of year may have you afraid of all those creepy ghosts and goblins.

But did you know everyone is afraid of something? (Unless you’re Batman).
Some fears are a good thing, like the fear of being hit by a car – this makes you aware of the traffic around you.
However, when fear becomes stronger, that’s when it becomes a phobia. Phobias can damage your life. People with a certain kind of phobia will do everything possible to avoid that thing. Phobias create anxiety which can ruin relationships and work.
What are you afraid of?
Here are some fears and phobias that may seem a little weird.
Triskaidekaphobia—the fear of the number 13
Zoophobia – the fear of animals

Amathophobia – the fear of dust
Macrophobia – the fear of long waits
Chromophobia – the fear of colors
Agoraphobia – the fear being in open spaces
Coulrophobia – the fear of clowns
Glossophobia – the fear of speaking in public
Nosophobia – the fear of catching a disease
Acrophobia – the fear of heights
Phasmophobia – the fear of ghosts
Ailurophobia – fear of cats
Cynophobia – fear of dogs
Globophobia – fear of balloons
Koumpounophobia – fear of buttons
Siderodromophobia – fear of trains or railroads
Xanthophobia – fear of the color yellow
And perhaps the longest word in the phobia category? Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia which is the fear of the number 666.
What about our example of being hit by a car? Dystychiphobia is the excessive fear of having an accident.
There’s even a phobia about having a fear or phobia. It’s called Phobophobia.
Hopefully, you don’t have any extreme fears, but if you do, there’s probably a name for it. Let us know your scary thoughts in the comments section.
